I regret that I am unable at present to recommend an officer of the Gaol staff for the post of Warden. Junior Head Turnkey Brass, who served in the Home Prison Service and who arrived in the Colony in June 1872 is the only officer who possesses the necessary qualifications, but I consider that he is lacking in discretion at times.
